About Us

Dorset County Dance Festival was born in the months of lockdown when the arts community, just like many other avenues was very limited and very dormant.  A group of local experts and enthusiasts scooped up the opportunity and decided to make use of their unexpected free time to together create a charitable company that would be able to root and grow year upon year, benefitting the local and surrounding community, and providing a platform for performers to enjoy the stage, build skills and enhance their confidence.

As a member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, the patron of which was her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II, DCDF (Dorset County Dance Festival) is among the very few federation festivals that provide both competitive and non-competitive pathways, thereby offering a completely inclusive opportunity for everyone regardless of ability, level or indeed anything else.

The festival is passionate about accessibility, so for anyone with a joy for theatre and dance, if you are learning with a recognised teacher or organisation, we whole heartedly welcome you to join us for 2025.  Enjoy a professional and friendly event ran by a kind and enthusiastic team, from tap dance to classical, song and dance to contemporary, we look forward to your routines entertaining appreciative audiences again next year and celebrating our community festival evolve even further.

Our Aim

Dorset County Dance Festival is an amateur performing arts festival delivered under the umbrella of The British and International Federation of festivals, of which we are very proudly a member.

The word ‘festival’ means a time of celebration, Dorset County Dance Festival is set to be a collaborative celebration of the achievement and skill of our next generation of young performers.

Spectators can enjoy a massive array of performances across a jam packed four-day schedule, with expert adjudication from one of the industry’s leading dance experts.

Festivals offer a huge and diverse range of styles from traditional Global Dance and Classical Ballet, through to Tap, Street Dance, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. Under federation guidelines, the event will be open competitively to children and young adults up to age of 21 years, however our non-competitive sections will welcome the very young and indeed the more mature to take part.
